Maybe its a bad business strategy (oh well...) but we are dedicated to ensuring that each and every person who purchases a plant baby from knows how to care for and help their new plant survive. Wed rather never see someone again (dont get us wrong we LOVE your smiling faces) and know their plants are thriving than have someone in the shop constantly purchasing because their plants are dying. This is where we differ from big box shops, and why you should shop small and local. We are here for you (basically) 24/7 through different social apps to offer advice, support, and even simply as a place to show off your thriving plants and hard work if you want to! Not only are you able to, but we actually encourage you to contact us with your plant care questions (how else are we supposed to learn if no one helps)!
Wanna take a class to learn even more?
As you meander through our shop you'll notice that we cary more strange and unusual plants than you'd normally see at a big box shop. This is in part because our owner loves wild plants, but also because we know you can find the usual plants in all the usual big box stores. Our shop, staff, and plants are far from "usual" and we love to show that! While we do carry some common varieties of plant babies our shelves offer a variety of less expensive exotics, variegated beauties, and even vintage varieties (especially orchids).
If we haven’t met, Hi! My name is Bella, and I am the owner and brains behind #daffodillysplantco. Before we opened in 2023, i was working as a full time barista at a small coffee shop and decided that despite being in love with my job, i wanted to pursue a dream that i had had since before college. I wanted to open a plant shop.
I’ve always had a love for plants, flowers, nature, and the outdoors but during my time living in the city for college i found a massive love for saving and growing houseplants! There were soooo many wonderful places to shop for planty friends there, and i might have gone a little too ham for a bit lol! That being said, when i returned back to my little town i lovingly call home I felt sad that my hobby was somewhat put on hold. With only big box stores to choose from, i found myself trying to take on outdoor gardening (which i am definitely not the best at though i do enjoy it) or searching out fellow plant lovers to try and swap cuttings with.
One night as i sat at dinner with my lovely partner i proposed the idea of opening my own shop. He told me i should go for it, and has continued to encourage me day in and out. With guidance from my amazing entrepreneurial family, i was able to get a loan to buy a little vintage trailer and about 50 plants to start doing pop ups……. boy did the universe have other plans for me.
In May of 2023, my family and I were walking down the streets of our little town on the way to lunch when we noticed a storefront available! Next thing we knew we were open in June with a beautiful Co- Shop that serves delicious coffees and baked goods, boats wonderful herbal elixers and remedies, and is filled with fun beautiful plants. While its technically two businesses in one, we thought they meshed perfectly for our town shop.
Now here we are with a beautiful shop, tons of plants, and an amazing support system of wonderful plant loving shoppers. I wouldn’t be where i am without each of you, and hope that we continue to grow and change for years to come.
You may still find me barista-ing it up from time to time at the shop or attempting to make tomato’s grow…. but now i spend most of my days helping you all grow and love the most beautiful houseplants and i couldn’t be happier if i tried.
with love and light
